EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITISATION AND REPROCESSING (EMDR)
What is it and how can it help?
EMDR is £70 for one hour session with qualified director, Jess.

What is EMDR?
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a mental health treatment technique. This method involves moving your eyes a specific way while you process traumatic memories. EMDR's goal is to help you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.

EMDR helps you to process the negative images, negative emotions and beliefs, as well as the body sensations that can be associated with trauma. Having these in your life can lead to a range of mental health problems. EMDR helps you to see things from a different perspective and works to ease the symptoms that you have been experiencing.

EMDR has been historically known for helping with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). However, it can be used to help with a range of mental health difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, addictions, behavioural problems, relationship issues, psychosis and personality disorders.

There are different approaches to EMDR that Jess can work with you on. EMDR Plus, for instance, is a combination of EMDR and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). EFT is often referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure, which can help create balance in your energy system. Another approach to EMDR is EMDR Attachment. This is an approach that is usually best for dealing with childhood attachment or trauma. There may be some hypnotherapy involved with EMDR.

Testimonial:
Client R: "I have recently engaged in EMDR with Jess at the wellbeing therapy hut. My experience of this process was a real positive for me personally, I have engaged in many types of therapy previously, but this approach enabled me to access my thoughts, feelings and emotions on a deeper level. I felt safe and secure throughout the process and when more difficult emotions arose I felt able to sit with them, with the security of jess in the room with me. I experienced a journey and it was truly a transformative process and it ended with me having processed a difficult experience and come out of it with a more positive outlook on life".
