TRAINEE COUNSELLORS ON PLACEMENT
Offering you options with reduced therapy rates
At The Wellbeing Therapy Hut, we are excited to be able to offer affordable counselling, which we can do by offering a reduced fee by seeing one of our trainee counsellors on placement.
All of our Counsellors on Placement are all members of professional bodies with accredited registered status, such as BACP or NCPS. They are in their Final Years of Study. This means that they have already completed at least 2 years of training. They have been interviewed by Alana, our placement manager or David, our general manager, and selected because of their skills and that they share a similar ethos to The Wellbeing Therapy Hut; an integrative and client-led journey for our clients.

What is the difference between a trainee counsellor and a qualified counsellor?
The difference is that a qualified counsellor has more hours of working with clients, passed exams and assessments. Trainees are in their final level of training. They have completed 2/3 years of training so far so have all the knowledge and theory to pass their exams, they just need more client hours to be able to pass.
Trainees can only have 4 clients at a time where as a counsellor can have as many as they want. Trainees have to have more supervision which checks their practice as well.

We all experience difficult times in our lives and may feel overwhelmed or unable to cope. Whatever your struggles may be you don’t have to face them alone, I offer a calm and safe space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement. Having had personal therapy myself I understand how daunting it may feel to start counselling, which is why I feel extremely passionate in creating a warm and supportive environment. I work in a psycho-dynamic way – working through past experiences and uncovering our unconscious mind to help make sense of our present behaviour and feelings.

ANGELA
Having worked in various roles in the mental health field over the years, I have seen first hand how transformational therapy can be for individuals and their loved ones. It was seeing the positive changes in others that inspired me to train as a Counsellor. My training is Pluralistic, meaning I am trained to use a range of therapeutic approaches including Psychodynamic, Person Centred and CBT. The benefit of being trained in multiple modalities is that I am able to draw on a range of skills that would meet your individual needs.
My aim is to provide a safe place that you can feel comfortable bringing your whole self to. I will work alongside you to help you explore the challenges and/or experiences that brought you to begin your therapeutic journey.

KATIE
My journey to becoming a counsellor began with my own experiences of trauma and a difficult childhood. I know firsthand how isolating and overwhelming emotional pain can be, and how powerful it is to have someone truly listen and support you.
I work using a person-centred approach, meaning I see you as the expert. I’ll support you with warmth, empathy, and acceptance as you explore your feelings and experiences at your own pace. I integrate psychodynamic thinking, which helps to understand how past experiences may be influencing the present.
Whatever has brought you here, I offer a non-judgemental, supportive space where we can work together towards greater understanding, healing, and self-acceptance.

HANNAH
I know from personal experience how daunting speaking to a stranger and being vulnerable can feel, that is why I offer a safe, non judgmental environment.
I am passionate that with the right tools and understanding of ourselves, we can work towards a happier life.
I help clients with a psychodynamic approach where we explore both the past and present.

VIKKI
After a long career as a Battlefield Medic and Welfare Officer to personnel and veterans, I am now in the process of becoming a retired member of the armed forces and would like to continue my adventure in counseling. I am a student of psychodynamic counselling, with experience of working with bereavement, life transitions (retirement, job change/loss, illness), relationship breakdowns, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and various challenges that life can offer us. I work in a respectful boundaried manner, keeping appointments regular and offering a safe environment.

TOM
My first experience of counselling was at the age of 20. After a difficult start to university, I engaged
with the student counselling service. Knowing that I wasn't it alone, was huge for me. It also marked the beginning of a journey of self-exploration, which has led me to training to become a counsellor. My style of counselling is
Integrative, which means I work with Person-Centred, Existential and Psychodynamic approaches. More importantly, I provide a safe, empathic, and genuine therapeutic environment where you can truly be yourself. Counselling allows us to discuss things that we may not feel able to talk about with others. I offer a non-judgemental and open-minded space for you to explore your
thoughts and feelings.

CHIARA
My own experience with the transformative benefits of therapy inspired me to embark on this journey, with a desire to support others. My counselling practice is integrative, blending Person-Centred and existential approaches with elements of Psychodynamic and CBT. This allows me to tailor my practice to meet your unique needs. I strive to provide an empathetic and non-judgemental space where you can feel truly heard and free to explore what matters most to you.

KATE
I am training in therapeutic integrative counselling which means I will work flexibly and uniquely with each person to meet their needs. With a working background in trauma informed work, I can work with each person in exploring their past and presenting issues, so they feel more able to make any changes needed during this period in their life. I have had my own personal experience of counselling, and it was life changing for me so I understand that providing a safe and confidential space is so important for people taking this step to explore the difficulties that they may be facing right now.

BECKY
My journey into counselling has been shaped by a passion for mental health and strong belief in the power of human connection and understanding. As a specialist teacher, I’ve seen how transformative compassionate support can be. My work with individuals facing emotional and developmental challenges deepened my belief in the power of listening without judgment. I have specific experience in working with neurodiversity; understanding that everyone experiences the world in their own unique way. My aim is to create a space where you feel heard, respected and supported, just as you are. I work from a person-centred, integrative approach. This flexibility allows us to explore your experiences and navigate challenges at a pace that feels safe and respectful to you.

CHARLI
I believe that therapy should be a dynamic relationship between the counsellor and client and should evolve and reflect what you need right now. I work in a pluralistic manner, embracing psychodynamic, person-centred and CBT approaches. I do personally understand how daunting this journey can be, so I am ultimately here just to offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can talk and, most importantly, be heard.

JAKE
I'm currently training to be an integrative counsellor, a path deeply rooted in my own journey of personal growth and recovery. My lived experience has taught me the power of compassion, resilience, and the importance of being truly heard. It’s this understanding that fuels my commitment to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where others can explore their own stories and challenges. I believe in a flexible, holistic approach to counselling—one that honours the uniqueness of each individual and draws from a range of therapeutic models to support meaningful change.

My focus when we work together is on creating a safe space for you to feel that you can be yourself and talk at ease. I won’t judge you, nor will I offer you advice, instead I will walk alongside you as we explore any thoughts and emotions you wish to share. Training as an integrative counsellor means that our work together is unique to you, and although my methods are underpinned by a person-centred approach, we can also explore creative ways of working together if this is helpful to you.
I am also a trained mindfulness practitioner which means we can use grounding techniques such as breathwork and visualisation, should you find these helpful during our sessions or alongside.

JACKIE
My name is Jackie, and I’m a student counsellor offering a safe and supportive space for you to talk about whatever feels important. I work in an integrative way, which means I can draw from different approaches to find what fits best for you and your unique experiences. At the heart of my work is creating a warm, non-judgmental environment where you can feel heard and accepted. Together, we can explore any challenges you’re facing and help you find new ways forward at your own pace.

JAMIE
I’m an integrative counsellor with a grounding in person-centred therapy, which means I put the relationship at the heart of the work we do together. I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore whatever’s on your mind at your own pace. I believe we all have the capacity for growth, healing, and change, and I draw on different approaches to find what works best for you. My aim is to help you make sense of things, find new perspectives, and be with you as you work through difficult times.

SAM
My integrative approach to counselling draws on Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Existential theories, allowing me to tailor therapy to each individual. I am passionate about supporting and empowering clients to make the changes they wish to see, helping to increase their sense of control and enjoyment in life. My priority is to provide a safe, calm, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever feels important - whether current challenges, past experiences, or patterns you’d like to change. Having experienced the benefits of therapy myself, I know how valuable it is to feel truly heard and supported, and I bring this understanding into my work.
